The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is actively promoting the development of agile, customer-focused products to enhance insurance accessibility across different demographics and regions. The scale of the initiative was substantial, involving over 45 business users and more than 150 IT developers collaborating across seven systems integrator partners. Together, they designed more than 300 product covers and business rules, executing over 10,000 test scenarios. Remarkably, the solutions were delivered in just nine months, with the commercial fire product being the first to launch, followed closely by the health product. Key outcomes from this project include a reduction in product launch time from 4-5 months to just four weeks, enabling swift responses to market demands and regulatory changes.

Boosting Efficiency and Customer Experience

Significant productivity improvements have been noted, with agents now able to generate quotes almost instantaneously, offering multiple product options to clients rather than just a single selection. Furthermore, operational efficiency has risen, with a marked decrease in manual data entry, compliance risks, and improved accuracy. The implementation of straight-through processing has drastically reduced task completion times from hours or days to just 3-4 minutes. Enhanced customer experiences are evidenced by policies being processed in near real-time, alongside data-driven product recommendations that cater better to client needs.
